What Car? guide to hands-free phone sets - Nokia BH-900

04 December 2006
Nokia BH-900
Cost £60
For Flexible design, and sliding boom microphone
Against A bit pricey and some background noise
Verdict A unique-looking headset, not the best sound quality

This is the only headset in our test you can use in either ear, and you don't need to adjust it to use it on your left or right ear. It also has a neat slide-out boom to help position the microphone closer to your mouth.

It's not the easiest of headsets of place on your ear, but once on it feels secure. Shame the answer button is a little small.

Sound quality is good and clear, and it copes well with quieter speech. It also suppresses ambient noise well, without removing too much detail. There is a little background hiss, though, and we experienced some problems answering a call with our test model. Accidentally sliding the boom back during a conversation also cut the call off.
