Q: I have a hectic life and I'm fed up wasting time in traffic. How can I get into car sharing?
Pervez Hussain A: The Government estimates there are 10 million empty seats on UK roads every day.
Filling even some of these seats could reduce congestion and carbon dioxide emissions, and car sharing is one solution.
Car clubs and lift-share schemes have sprung up across the country to help connect passengers and drivers.

With car sharing, two or more people share a car and travel together. Liftshare is the largest national scheme, with over 150,000 members - see www.liftshare.org for details.
Car clubs work differently - with these, cars are available for short-term hire on a pay-as-you-go basis. Members can book by phone or online up to 30 minutes before they need to travel. For more information, see www.carplus.org.uk.
For other car clubs, you could also visit www.streetcar.co.uk or www.citycarclub.co.uk.
