What Car? Q&A - 1.8 or 2.0 Mondeo?

10 November 2005
Q: I want to buy a Ford Mondeo, but I don’t know if I should opt for the 1.8-litre, or the 2.0-litre petrol. What would you advise?
Mr Fisher

A: If you are considering buying a Mondeo saloon or hatchback we rate the 1.8-litre as the best bet. However, if you are considering the estate, we recommend you buy the 2.0-litre. The extra performance from the larger engine will prove useful if you intend to carry heavier objects in the estate.

If you have a high annual mileage, think about the diesel version of the saloon, hatchback or estate, as you should save money on fuel costs in the long run.
