Q: I am looking to put down a deposit on the new model Audi TT which is due to come out later this year. Do you think that I will be able to negotiate a target price on a new model or will I have to pay the asking price?
Nadine FryA: If the old model is anything to go by, the new Audi TT is likely to prove a very popular car.
The original model has been on sale for over seven years, but it remains desirable and buyers are still queuing up to buy – the What Car? Target price is only about 6% lower than the list price.
Audi has also been doing a thorough job of keeping appetites whetted with concept cars and hints at how the new model will look when it goes on sale in the second half of the year. We've already had the chance to drive an estate version, which is likely to go on sale in 2007. Go to 'News' and then 'Latest news reports' to find the report.
With all this hype and demand, it's highly unlikely that you'll be able to negotiate a discount now or after the car has arrived in showrooms. Customers are already keen to be among the first to get the car and place deposits, even before specifications and prices are released, so dealers won't have to work hard – the TT will sell itself.
You could be waiting well into 2007 before you can get a discount, but rest assured that What Car? will report the savings when they're available. Keep checking out our Target Price to see when you might save some cash.
