What Car? Q&A - Can I have a sunroof installed?

30 June 2005
Q: I like cars with a sunroof fitted but some manufacturers do not offer them. Can an electrically operated roof be fitted after the car is purchased?
Brian Sidwell

A: It is possible to cut a hole in the roof of most cars and have a sunroof installed. There are several companies that can supply and fit a sunroof, either manually or electrically operated, and a quick search of the internet will find them.

However, it is not possible to fit sunroofs into some cars due to their design and construction. Remember that if you have one installed, it may void a manufacturers warranty.
