What Car? Q&A - Can my toddler sit in the front?

18 August 2005
A: Where possible, children should always travel in the rear of the car, regardless of what type of seat they are in and whether there is an airbag or not. However, if your daughter has to sit in the front seat, a correctly fitted, forward-facing child seat should provide adequate protection for her, as long as put the passenger seat as far back as possible.

A child in a rear-facing seat should never sit in the front seat of a car if there is an airbag. In the event of an accident the airbag could strike the back of the child’s head, potentially causing serious injury.
