What Car? Q&A - How big was the Mondeo's 2003 face-lift?

06 April 2006
Q: Was the Ford Mondeo face-lifted in 2003? If so, what changes were made?
Derrick Wood

A: The Mondeo received a face-lift in June 2003. Changes to the exterior were subtle, but included new alloy wheels, revised bumpers, new tail lamp clusters, and clear indicator lenses.

Inside, there was a new centre console design with a wider choice of fabrics and trims, and the introduction of automatic climate control as standard on many models.

Mechanical changes extended to the introduction of new direct-injection petrol engines, and in July 2004 Ford introduced the new 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine for the ST TDCi and TDCi Ghia X models.
