What Car? Q&A - How can I tell if my car's an import?

15 September 2005
Q: I bought a VW from a garage 18 months ago and paid a very reasonable price. However, I didn’t check if the car was an import and, now that I want to sell it, I think I should find out. What is the best way of checking?

A: Determining if your car is an import or not is relatively easy. Most sellers are usually fairly honest, so ask the garage who supplied you the car. You could also check the service book, as the first stamp for the pre-delivery inspection will show a foreign address if it’s an import.
