What Car? Q&A - How much can Tacuma tow?

Q: I am thinking of buying a Chevrolet Tacuma 1.6 and would want to use it for towing a caravan. Can you tell me the size of caravan this car can reasonably pull?

The towing limit for the petrol Tacuma is set at 1200kg by Chevrolet.

As well as providing more pulling power, which is helpful for towing, the diesel version of the five-seat MPV is rated to tow up to 1500kg. Having said that, it’s always safer to limit the weight of whatever you’re towing to the kerb weight of the car.

In the case of the petrol that’s 1358kg, so the 1200kg limit is fine. The diesel weighs 1320kg, however, so we’d stick to this.
