What Car? Q&A - Interest-free finance offers

14 July 2005
Q: While browsing your 'latest deals' section, I saw an interest-free finance offer that runs until the end of September. My local dealer says the offer is only valid until the end of the week. Who’s right?

A: Manufacturers can't force dealers to take part in incentives like these finance rates, so you might find showrooms that don’t offer the deals.

Most will usually opt in, however, and when they do they have to abide by the terms. That means if your dealer has chosen to take part, the finance offer is on the table to the end of September, whether that's convenient for them or not.

It sounds very much as though your dealer is trying to rush you into a purchase and seal the deal before you have any time for second thoughts.
