What Car? Q&A - Is there a new BMW Z4 soon?

06 October 2005
Q: I am considering buying a Z4, however have heard rumours that BMW may replace this roadster with a new model. I obviously don't want to splash out on a Z4 if there’s a new one on the way within the year.

A: There are some changes planned to the Z4 line-up, but they don’t include replacing the roadster with a new model just yet.

BMW unveiled the Z4 Coupe concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show earlier this month. Designed to go head to head with the likes of the new Porsche Cayman, the Z4 Coupe could be in showrooms by the middle of next year.

The Z4 range is also due to get some new engine options. These include a lighter, more powerful 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine developing up to 265bhp, and the 338bhp 3.2-litre engine from the M3.
