What Car? Q&A - New engine for Corolla Verso?

02 June 2005
Q: Will Toyota be putting its new 2.2-litre diesel engine in the Corolla Verso and, if so, when? Also, is the 2.0-litre diesel engine in the new Mazda 5 the same as the Focus C-Max’s unit?
Adam D

A: Toyota will add the 2.2-litre diesel engine to the Corolla Verso MPV range in October. Expect to pay £1000 more for the 148bhp engine than for the 114bhp unit. It’s likely that it won’t be offered in the cheapest trim level, so expect to pay from £18,995.

The 2.0-litre diesel engine in the Mazda 5 is the same as the one in the Ford Focus C-Max. It’s also available from this autumn and will cost from £15,900 for the 109bhp version and £17,900 with 141bhp.
