What Car? Q&A - What's a good MPV with sliding doors?

09 August 2007
Q: We are shortly due to change our car. We have three kids, one of which is disabled, so we need something with sliding doors for easy accessibility. I have been trying to compare the range available and wondered if you have a list of suitable cars/MPVs with sliding doors.

A: The Citroen C8 and Peugeot 807 are built on the same platform and both have sliding side doors. Target Prices (which include an easily achievable discount) start at £16,794 for the Citroen and £16,123 for the Peugeot.

The Fiat Ulysse was also built on this platform, but is no longer in production so is only available secondhand. Except to pay between £7000 and £12,000.

The Chrysler Voyager has sliding side doors but did poorly in recent Euro NCAP crash tests. An all-new version of this car, again with sliding side doors, is due to go on sale in the UK early next year with prices starting at around £20,000.

A slightly smaller option is the Mazda 5. It can still squeeze in seven, at a pinch, and has a Target Price starting at £13,638.
