Q: Please could you tell me when the upgraded Mazda 6 estate will be available. I am particularly interested in the revised 2.0-litre diesel.
John Draper-RushA: Dealers have demonstrators of the cars now, with the first deliveries to customers due in August.
As well as some slight cosmetic tweaks, including new bumpers and headlights, there are also some transmission and engine changes.
The 2.0-litre petrol increases in power slightly, as does the higher-rated version of the 2.0-litre diesel you’re interested in. It now offers 7bhp more at 141bhp. Previously, it only developed as much pulling power as the 119bhp version, but it now beat its less powerful sibling by a significant 30lb ft.
The 2.0-litre cars now use a six-speed manual as standard instead of a five-speed for added motorway refinement and slightly improved fuel economy.
