What Car? Q&A - Who offers long-term foreign insurance?

Q: Due to work commitments, I am taking residency in France for 11 months. I wish to take my own car, but I don't want to export it because I have been warned that the bureaucracy involved is a nightmare. The longest overseas insurance policy I have found is only for 90 days. What are my options?

A: Because you are taking your car abroad for less than 12 months, you aren't required to export your car, but if you were to stay for any longer, you would need to re-register it in France.
