What Car? Q&A - Whose X-Trail CO2 figure is right?

27 March 2008
Q: Your review (and others) of the new Nissan X-Trail diesel gives a carbon dioxide output of 190g/km. I've just bought one, and the logbook quotes 216g/km. Who is right?
Jeff Lyes

A: The amount of carbon dioxide emitted by the Nissan X-Trail will depend on the engine size and whether it has a manual or automatic gearbox.

In a sense, both figures that you quoted are correct for the 2.0 dCi 148 engine. However, the figure of 190g/km applies to the manual version, while the automatic version produces 216g/km.
