What Car? Q&A - Why the difference in measurements?

18 August 2005
Q: Your test of the Yaris T Sport says it is 1880mm wide, but Toyota’s brochure says 1660mm – why is this?
Neil Macauley

A: Toyota quotes the width of its cars from wing to wing. However, What Car?’s measurements always include the door mirrors. We believe buyers should know the full width of a car because they may need to know whether a new car will fit into their garage or on their drive.
