What Car? Q&A - Will Ford make a Focus RS?

25 January 2008
Q: I've read reports that Ford is going to make another Focus RS - is this true? If so, do you have any information, and can you tell me how I would go about placing an order?
Glyn Wiltshire

A: You've heard correctly - Ford has announced its plans to launch an RS model of its current-generation Focus.

If everything goes to plan, it should be launched early in 2009 with a price tag of around £25,000.

Power will come from the same 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that powers the ST model, but output will be upped to around 280bhp.

That should make for some impressive performance figures. Expect 0-60mph to take less than six seconds, and top speed to be in the region of 155mph.

To place an order, you'll need to speak to your Ford dealer. We called a local dealer to enquire and they were willing to take a deposit - although they did admit that the exact specification has yet to be confirmed.
