What Car? Q&A - Will Lexus build an IS estate?

Q: We currently have a Lexus IS200 and I want to buy a dog. My husband says we can get a dog when we own a car where it can fit in the boot. We both love the Lexus and cannot think of another we like that has a boot. What can you suggest?

A: Lexus have made the decision not to produce a Sportcross version of the new IS.

The old IS Sportcross was effectively the same as the saloon, but with a different shape rear. Load space was not significantly larger than the saloon, but it did feature an estate style boot so, depending on the size of dog you’re thinking of, it might be enough.

The Sportcross was only sold in small numbers but you should be able to find a low mileage example at a dealer.

If that doesn’t fit the bill, you could think about the Lexus RX300 4x4. With a bigger boot, and easy access it’s great at canine transportation.
