Buyers expect high standards at this price and the
Jaguar XJ seems to be delivering. It's only just ahead of the
Mercedes CLS, however.
In fifth place is the
BMW 5 Series, the most-reviewed car in this category. The Saab 9-5 is bottom of the table, but its score is still reasonable for a car that was launched more than 10 years ago.
The best: Jaguar XJ
Phillip Atkinson'Awesome. I've had four Mercs, two Porsches and various other toys, but this is the best car I have ever had. Ride quality is fab, refinement is unbelievable and when you drive it, you never want to get out of it. Anyone who suggests it's an old man's car has simply not got a clue.'
The worst: Saab 9-5
Chris Jenkins'Comfort is
superb, but the big issue is reliability. My car has decided to eat flywheels; it had a replacement at 29,000 miles in November and by January it had munched the new one.
'Saab has been excellent; it agreed to replace the whole drivetrain to try to fix it. I regularly average 45mpg.'
