Mitsubishi i-MiEVWhen we
tested a group of electric cars in 2009, the i-MiEV proved the most practical, and its performance was very impressive. Other electric vehicles struggle with a full load, but not the Mitsubishi.
Its six-hour charge time is pretty impressive, too, and this is one of the better electric cars out of town, with a strong motor that allows the car to cruise at 70mph – although doing so will cut the range sharply.
The one potential stumbling block is price. Mitsubishi has announced the i MiEV will cost £38,699, which drops to £33,699 after the Government's
£5000 electric car grant is included. Not a great incentive to make the switch to electric.
