This Lotus Elise-based creation is far and away the most exciting electric car you can buy in the UK: quicker to 60mph than a Ferrari F430, capable of 125mph and able to do up to 220 miles on a single charge.

Nit-pickers will point out that it doesn’t handle quite as sharply as the Lotus it’s based on – the batteries add a lot of weight – but the straight-line speed more than makes up for that.

Instead, the big problem is the price: it costs more than most Porsche 911s, which is a lot for something based on an Elise.
