Although this hybrid saloon shares its name with the stylish
Civic hatchback, it’s a very different beast.
Naturally, the four-door body means it’s not as versatile as a hatch, and it has a firm ride and not enough feel through the steering.
On top of that, performance is nothing to write home about, and the CVT gearbox means the revs soar when you accelerate hard, which does nothing for the car’ refinement.
Compared to other small family cars, the Civic saloon is also expensive to buy, but at least the 61mpg economy and sub-110g/km CO2 emissions mean it will have low running costs.
There’s also plenty of room inside, with enough space on the back seat for three people, as well as decent equipment across the range.
