What hybrid Car? - Honda Insight

22 April 2010
The Insight is cheaper than its arch rival, the Toyota Prius, but in most other respects the Honda has to give second best.

It’s less economical and emits more CO2, for example – although you can hardly complain about 64mpg average economy and the 101g/km CO2 emissions that mean it has a 10% company car tax liability.

It's easy to live with, too, thanks to the acres of room inside, decent equipment (other than on the most basic version), and good fit and finish.

The only real drawback is the lack of performance. Even when the 1.3-litre petrol engine and electric motor are working together, the car struggles to reach the national limit, and overtaking on the motorway is a painfully slow experience.
