What hybrid Car? - Toyota Prius

22 April 2010
The original Prius was the car that effectively started the hybrid revolution, and the latest version is still very much the standard-bearer for this sort of car. Indeed, you don’t need to make any apologies for it. It’s not just good for a hybrid – it’s good, full stop.

Naturally, it’s the 72mpg average economy and 89g/km CO2 emissions that steal the headlines and help to make it such a cheap car to run. As well as that, though, it’s also a spacious car: there's enough room for five people and there's a decent boot, too.

It’s refined, the petrol engine kicking in smoothly when it's needed. To cap it all, there’s plenty of equipment across the range, lots of safety features and solid build quality.

The only disappointments are some drab plastics in the cabin and the drone from the engine under hard acceleration.
