There's some good news from the car industry in the Financial Times. Luxury car maker Bentley, which has cut production at its Crewe factory and imposed an extended Christmas break, says it has increased its new apprenticeships by 28% this year and plans to add another 11% next year.

The same paper reports on Caroline Johnson, a 46-year-old mother of four who was dragged 80ft along a road earlier this month. She was caught under the wheels of her Citroen after it was snatched outside her house in Berkshire. After spending 16 days fighting for her life, she in now making a recovery.

The Sun reports on a driver who bought an old police car and was horrified to find stun gun equipment and spent bullet cartridges inside. Simon Harder bought the Vauxhall Omega in an auction but found Taser cartridges on the back seat and 9mm bullets in the boot.

Linda Lusardi has come in for criticism in the Daily Mirror after dialling 999 to ask police to help get out of a traffic jam. The former topless model was stuck in a jam on the M25 and used the emergency number to ask if she could use the motorway's hard shoulder as she was late for her panto performance.
