What women should drive, by men

31 December 2007

Women hoping to attract male attention should get behind the wheel of a classic convertible, according to a survey by evecars.com.

The women’s car website asked a cross-section of men which car they’d be most impressed to see a woman driving.

The classic Mercedes-Benz SL (1955-1963) topped the list – the car Grace Kelly drove in the film High Society.

The iconic Porsche 911 was second favourite, with the Mitsubishi Evo taking the final podium spot.
The Land Rover Defender, Subaru Impreza, Rolls-Royce Phantom, Range Rover Sport, Fiat 500, VW Golf R32 and Caterham 7 completed the top ten.

’The men we polled love the idea of a woman at the wheel of a performance car, but only if she knows how to handle it,’ said evecars.com’s editor, Alex Jenner-Fust.

’That’s why the idea of a Land Rover Defender driven by the Queen is far more appealing than a modern Mercedes convertible being driven, or crashed, by the likes of Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears.’
