Wild west - London's perilous streets

West London has been revealed as the capital's number one hot-spot for accident damage to cars.
The south western and western areas of London accounted for more than 50% of all accidents in the capital during 2010, according to figures from insurance firm Accident Exchange.
There were 220,000 crashes reported on London's streets in 2010, with the most common type being rear-end collisions, which accounted for 30% of incidents. Accidents that involved damage to parked cars accounted for 29% of all crashes. Changing lanes rounded off the top three with 10% of incidents.
It's not all bad for western regions of the capital, though, with the residential areas of north west London accounting for just 8.22% of reported incidents.
Figures show the safest place in London to drive or park is the posh west central area, which contributes just 3.8% to the city's accident total.
