BMW's 3 Series has been named World Car of the Year at a presentation during the New York Motor Show.

The award is voted for by 46 car journalists worldwide. The BMW emerged triumphant from a final shortlist that also included the Mazda MX-5 and Porsche's Cayman S.

The latest success follows a number of awards for the 3 Series, including our coveted Car of the Year title.
