For The diesel engine combines mighty performance with resonable running costs, and the Audi Q3 2.0 TDI 177 S Line quattro comes with all sorts of aesthetic enhancements.

Against This engine comes only with the S tronic twin-clutch gearbox, which makes it pretty pricey. S line trim makes it even pricier.

Buyer's notes

Target Price team says:

There's a range of petrol and diesel engines available for the Audi Q3 and, as with most SUVs, we'd recommend picking one of the diesels. The 138bhp 2.0-litre diesel with front-wheel drive and a manual gearbox is the most efficient Q3; it just happens to be one of the cheapest to buy, too.

There's also a 175bhp 2.0-litre diesel, but the price will put off most people.

Of the petrols, we'd recommend the 148bhp 1.4. It's fast and flexible enough that it renders the more expensive 2.0-litre units virtually pointless.

We'd go for SE trim, which provides lots of luxury kit for a reasonable price. There are plenty of optional extras you can add, too, but beware because some of them are eye-wateringly expensive.
