For Exceptional build quality, great dynamics and effortless performance thanks to 600bhp 6.0 W12 engine - but still comfortable, too. Does everything a big limo should.

Against Hefty £16k premium over standard model, and how much will you need the extra performance? Some ride comfort is sacrificed, and visual changes are subtle - inside and out.

Bentley Continental Saloon

What Car? says

2 out of 5 stars

The ultimate version of Bentley’s luxury barge has far more prestige than an equivalent Audi or Mercedes. Of the two versions, the Speed is the one to go for.

Buyer's notes

Target Price team says:

The Continental Flying Spur saloon is actually a shade cheaper than the Continental GT coupe on which it's based, but provides more space.

Two versions are available - a ‘standard’ edition and a range-topping Flying Spur Speed. Both are dual-natured beasts, with air suspension that can switch between four modes, ranging from limo-like comfort to sports saloon firmness.

VW’s 12-cylinder W12 engine powers both, though it’s tuned for more power in the speed. Whichever version you choose, the Flying Spur is classy, comfortable, spacious and oozes luxury. You can even specify twin armchairs to replace the rear bench.

There’s a hefty premium to pay for the Speed, though - nearly £16,000, although fuel economy and CO2 emissions remain the same for both. The Flying Spur isn’t perfect, but if money’s no issue there’s not a lot that will match its presence, prestige and performance.
