Purchased a new 325iSE Touring Auto (Petrol)in August 2010. Love the handling, find the ride firm but we like it that way, economical compared with our two previous models, leather seats very comfortable with the lumbar support. We have quite a few extras and we looked forward so much to having this car and overall love the car. BUT the constant annoying ticking rattle from the engine at low speeds drives me mad, as well as a whine at higher speeds. I've tried hard to get some answers but I am being told that all these noises are normal and ALL new 6-cylinder BMW engines sound like this, due to the fuel injectors and the transmission and nothing can be done. Would I recommend anyone buy a £30,000+ 6 cylinder BMW? Well, no I wouldn't unless you are hard of hearing! This will be the last BMW we purchase and if the noises are still there after a couple more months (which they will be of course) we shall look to trade the car in for something else.
