    My car

I previously owned the 530d M Sport. I do approx 30,000 miles a year mainly on motorways driving from one end of the country to the other. I was looking for an extremly comfortable cabin with reasonable performance and economy. After 5,000 miles I am averaging 37mpg and the biggest problem I have is keeping the speed down to the legal limits, it is so easy to drive and you can easily get well over the speed limit without recognising it as the car is so refined and comfortable (cruise control a must). I have the Auto cruise control with auto braking and it works a dream once you get used to it. On the negative side this car is big and it needs the reversing camera to park. I also have surround view which is useful having got used to it. Night vision is incredable, especially for seeing hot spots on lorries and cars in front as well as people and animals. In summary a fantastic car for motoway cruising, a little big to park and I mainly use it as a hatchback as the small opening is to low for a tall guy. You can tell it is a heavy car as it seems to runs miles when you take your foot off the gas, but the opposite when excelerating.

    My car

Having owned 3 model changes of the 5 series, the GT interested me from its launch. It is different, but the combination of saloon and tourer gave me the best option. My previous 5 series was the M sport tourer 2.0D.I never felt really comfortable in a tourer and struggled with the diesel. The 535GT has a superb petrol engine, albeit not so frugal, the internal space is superb. The revised I control system is much more user friendly.Against, the restricted rear view,it sometimes seems you need a rear wiper and disappointingly my Blackberry will not connect to the bluetooth system. They still have to set up the software and I will have to pay.A bit crazy as a colleague has a 57 plate 3 series and same Blackberry and his works! Overall,I am pleased, the comfort factor is great, long journeys are taken with ease and I am enjoying the experience. Jerry Harvey
