For One of the most stylish and practical five-seat MPVs. Airy cabin and light controls are well suited to family life and big discounts are available.
Against Vague steering and roly-poly handling mean that it's not very rewarding to drive. The suspension shudders over low-speed bumps and residual values for most models are weak.
The Citroen C4 Picasso is a good MPV, with lots of space and some cracking diesel engines. Unfortunately, it’s not so impressive on the road.
There's a lot to like about the Citroen C4 Picasso. From its bang-up-to-date looks and well-thought-out cabin design to fine diesel engines, the Picasso is a good bet for families who need plenty of space and versatility – but can cope with only five seats.
That’s where the C4 Picasso differs from the larger C4 Grand Picasso, which has seven seats to this car’s five. However, even this car is pretty versatile, with all three of the middle row of seats sliding back and forward individually and folding flat into the floor when necessary.
The 1.6- and 2.0-litre diesel engines are reasonable for economy (particularly the 1.6 eHDi unit that comes with a stop/start system), and they also provide good low- and mid-rev response. The automatic gearbox has a jerky action as it moves between gears, so is best avoided.
