For Go for the five-door Fiesta and it makes a strong case for itself in the practicality stakes. It’s also the most satisfying supermini to drive on any road, and Edge trim brings a good selection of standard kit
Against Yes, it has five doors, but the rear-seat space is still a little hampered for adults’ legs. We also find the boot has a high load lip to overcome with heavier items.
One of the best all-round superminis money can buy. It’s affordable, well equipped and great to drive. The flaws are small and easy enough to live with for most buyers.
There's an almost bewildering range of engines in the Fiesta range, but for us the best of the lot is the more powerful of the two 1.25-litre units. It's pokey enough and reasonably priced.
Effectively, there are two types of Fiesta – a standard set-up with more compliant suspension and speed-sensitive steering, and the firmer Zetec S, which has consistently weightier steering. Either way, it’s superb, but we'd recommend the standard car.
Whichever model you choose, make sure you shop around, because there will always be good deals to be found. Ford's website is a good place to start: here you can find all the latest company offers, such as free equipment and low-rate finance.
