I've had the car just over 19 months now and done 18k miles. It looks great and drives really well. I read with amusement all the reports saying space is limited in the cabin but they're wide of the mark. I'm over 6ft and have plenty of head and leg room whether in the front or back. The driver's seat has plenty of adjustment and it's eay to get comfy. The dash is well laid out although I do find some of the controls fiddly. The lack of a USB port in a top of the range model is a major source of frustration too. My other major gripes are that there's too much road and wind noise, especially on the motorway when you have to have the stereo on silly volumes to hear it properly. The auto wipers are next to useles, often not coming on unless you're in a monsoon. Or they'll be hammering away at full tilt when there's just the odd spot of rain on the windscreen. Similarly, the auto headlights are on all the time unless the sun is high in a cloudless sky so is an option I've used just the once. And the boot is tiny for such a big car. It's saving grace though was just how brilliantly it coped in the snow. The car certainly went where lots of others couldn't in the Jan 2010 snow storms.
This is a great car. It cruises along the motorway at eighty to ninety with no problems and I can honestly say the refinement is better than the two year old mondeo I traded in as part exchange. It's not the fastest away from the traffic lights but once you are into third and above it pulls away effortlesly. I test drove the vw Tiguan before choosing the Kuga and found it wasn't as comfortable or refined as the ford .Space isn't the best and may not suit a family .I drive thirty thousand miles a year with my job so believe me I need a car that is comfortable on long journeys and after eight hundred miles in my first week of ownership Iam delighted with the car. It handled well in the snow and ice we had last week and I'm looking forward to testing the off road ability when I go fishing in North Wales. Mondeo
Bought my ford kuga in June 2009, having covered nearly 2000 miles I am very impressed. Having read some of the reviews with comments like tight on space and wind noise at high speed I wasn’t sure if I had made the right choice. I haven’t noticed excessive wind noise at all, even at 110 mph the car seems very quite and composed.
Space inside the car is very good; I am 6ft 3” and have no problems travelling in either the front or the back.
The economy is surprisingly good for an SUV; I am averaging 41 mpg which I consider to be very good when the car weighs over 1.6 tons.
So to sum it up, great family vehicle, plenty of space, good economy, good handling, good residuals.
Would I buy another one ?. Yes
I've had the diesel Titanium 4WD for 1 year both here in the UK and a LHD in Spain where I spend approx half of my time. UK car is a much higher spec (dealer stock) with roof, leather, parking sensors etc and the leather seats are much more comfortable over the sports seats that are standard, Spanish car has roof & parking sensors and the unbelievably bad basic sat nav (dealer stock)
These have replaced a C-Max (Spain) and a RX8 (UK)and both have been brilliant with 34mpg (urban) to an easy 39.5mpg (Mixed). Front seats are good to great but with 18" wheels the back seat is hard (memories of early A Class). They are both due to be replaced soon with petrol automatics to accommodate left foot controls as my MS has progressed. Just sorry that the 2.2 diesel automatic has never been released.
