Ford Mondeo Estate 2.0 TDCi 163 Titanium X Sport 5dr Review

For The Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCi 163 Titanium X Sport has so much pull you'd never know this is such a big, heavy car. It's well-suited to the Mondeo, especially this version, with its lowered suspension and sporty body kit.

Against Costs more to buy and run than the 140 diesel, and those doing low mileages might actually be better off with a cheaper petrol version.

The Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCi 163 Titanium X Sport is a fine car in its own right, and one of the best models in the range. However, we can't justify the extra it costs over the 2.0 TDCi 140 model.

Buyer's notes

Target Price team says:

With so many Mondeos likely to be bought with company money and pounded up and down the country's motorway network, good fuel consumption and low company car tax liability are vital. That means we prefer the punchy and economical diesel-powered versions.

The 113bhp 1.6 diesel engine is just about man enough for the job of hauling the huge Mondeo around, and it gives stunning economy. However, most people will prefer the extra pulling power of the 138bhp 2.0 diesel, which itself is impressively efficient, and suits the car perfectly. By comparison, the smaller petrol engines seem to struggle to shift the car.

Trim-wise, you're best off sticking with lower trims, such as Zetec or Edge, which give you all the most important bits of kit as standard.
