I have owned this car since November 2007 and continue to very impressed by the overall package. I am 6,5" and find this car very comfortable on any journey , the room inside the car is very impressive as well as the standard Zetec specification which is straight forward[ climate control, cruise control and alloys]
I have read many comments on the full consumption and living in central London and use some dual carriageway and achieve 49mpg, I do use 6th gear over 50mph which some users may not but the engine can run easily in top gear at this speed
I have owned this 2.0 TDCi Zetec for 7 months now and overall I am very impressed.
Positives Handing is good for a large family estate, engine has enough guts to make good progress and the economy if great. As a motorway cruiser I cannot fault it - 55mpg+ at 70 mph, quiet and comfortable. Zetec has all the important toys that I want (full electric windows, cruise and climate controls, good stereo)
Negatives Around town fuel comsumption drops below 30 mpg and it feels huge in car parks and when parking. If you stand in the wrong place when you lift the tailgate you get soaked - not great design!!
Overall if you need a big family car, but still want to enjoy driving then I would strongly recommend this new Mondeo.
company car since march 08. currently at dealer and has been back six times !!! engine malfunction message keeps recurring and ford (wolverhampton) cannot seem to fix. great car to drive but a little on the large size, also fuel economy disappointing, average 33mpg but all very urban (20 mph). nice cabin but build quality not great - or have i been spoilt by volkswagen? visibility somewhat restricted when turning corners and yes the boot will disperse water back into the bootspace when opened.
I was going to get this car as the replacement for my 2.2 Signum Exclusiv which I love. However I have just had the 2.0TDCI Zetec Hatch for a week. What a pile of **** I did complete 1200 miles in it. The car suspension makes you feel sick all the time. It understeers and the power kicks in a shade too late and adds to the roll. There is a funny clicking / electrical contact noise coming from the dash which I have read about. The steering wheel is very badly positioned. No matter what way I tried I either could not get comfortable or I could not see the speedo right (I am 6 foot 2 inches)I am definately not getting this car. Which is a shame as I really did want to get it. On the plus side not bad fuel economy (Costs about £87 to fill it!!). Even though the car has everything you could want in it by the way of toys I left the vehicle feeling bored and uninspired. BTW there is a 20 Week delivery time for 2.0 TDCI and 6 gear variants. This is because they are using the engines and gear boxes in the Kuga.
Ive had my 2.0D for nearly 2 years now and it has…
