For The CR-V has plenty of space, impressive build quality and is comfortable to drive. SR trim has impressive kit levels, with electric front seats and DAB radio fitted as standard.

Against Off-road ability is limited. SR trim starts to make the CR-V look expensive compared with some of its closest rivals.

The 2.2-litre diesel SR model is well equipped, but that comes at a price. SE trim offers better value for money.

Buyer's notes

Target Price team says:

All the engines are smooth, but our favourite is the punchy 2.2-litre diesel. Buyers with no intention of venturing off road can stick with a front-wheel-drive 1.6-litre diesel or 2.0-litre petrol version (the 2.2-litre diesel is available only with four-wheel drive). Unless you’re driving on snow and ice, you’ll struggle to tell the difference between the front-wheel-drive car and the 4x4 models.

So long as you avoid the entry-level trim, comfort and safety equipment levels are good. We’d recommend an SE model, which comes with all the kit you need for a reasonable price.

Honda dealers always score highly in customer satisfaction surveys, but they’re very tight with their discounts. That said, CR-Vs are famed for their extremely strong resale values, so you should lose less money in depreciation than with many rivals.
