My i20 is now 3 weeks old ,I have the auto model which is very smooth on the road when it is changing gear and there is not alot of noise in the cabin. The plastics are hard but not cheap in feel. I got the Electric Green Mica Paint that costs £365 and it is very shiny and it is a good quality paint. The alloyed colours dash centre console is well layed out and the alloy effect is very good so it can brightrn up the cabin. I like the lines on the side of the car and it looks cute in a way, I recommend it!

    My car

I have read some rather poor reviews of the i20, especially about the brakes. I have now had 2 i20s since may 2009 and both have been superb, especially the brakes which are very progressive and have a reassuring feel. Everything about the car is solid and after 4 hours driving to Brighton i get out of it as fresh as a daisy. The only slight glitch is that the car sometimes bottoms out at the front when going over certain surfaces and the plastic bit below the bumper scrapes on the floor. Otherwise I think Hyundai have produced a very good car at a steal of price.

    My car

I bought my I20 1.4 Diesel on 17th April. Out of the 24 days i have owned it, i have only driven it for 5 days. From day one (only 2 miles after leaving garage) i had smoking rear brakes. This was put down to incorrect adjustment. Then i had all four brakes binding on, so the ABS pump was replaced. Then i had the front and rear diagonally opposite brakes binding on. This time Hyundai head office thinks its the Servo, but the local dealership think its the master cylindar. Because of Hyundai's warranty rules, they can only order the part that Hyundai suggests, and then (after fitting that part) can they order the part they believe to be at faul. Both parts are on back order in India (i am 3rd in line for a replacement servo), and there is no ETA on when these will be built or shipped to me. I have had such a dreadful experience buying my first new car that i am put off for life! My old banger was more reliable than this lemon!!! Beware of brake problems in the I20, and don't let the garage just fix the symptom without looking at the source of the problem. For those who said that their discs were warped - I think you need to demand a closer look for the cause, as it could be the same problem as mine.

    My car

    I pose a mystery.

We replaced our i20 this month after a year with a new one taking up a year end deal andintending to trade for a Fiesta after a few months.

We were a bit disappointed with our Feb 09 i20 . Hard ride, headrest issues for taller people, jittery , over-sensitive throttle/clutch and a variety of other things.

Hyundai appear to have changed several things without telling the sales people! The new car is a transformation. Even the head rest is comfortable. So I recommend What Car to retest. Bit of a mystery. Either they have improved the car appreciably to respond to feedback or the car deteriorates a lot over 12 months. Either way, What Car should investigate.

In the meantime it is a Fiesta because I promised, but I now do not want to sell my i20 because it is now much better to drive and is better value. Customer service is excellent
