Target Price team says:

We recommend the 1.4 petrol engine in the i30 hatchback, but with the extra weight of the estate and the increased likelihood that it will be used for carrying heavy loads, we reckon the 1.6 diesel is your best bet.

Classic trim isn’t available on the estate, so go for the Comfort model, which comes with air-conditioning, four electric windows, front fog lights, stability control and alloy wheels. For all that, though, one of the biggest attractions must be the i30’s free five-year Triple Care package - all i30 buyers benefit from five years’ RAC Roadside Assistance, five years of annual vehicle health checks and the famous five-year Hyundai warranty.

It's worth shopping around for a discount, but remember that the i30 already undercuts its more mainstream rivals, so you won't get as big a discount as on a Golf or a Focus.
