For The engine is gutsy enough, even for a full load, and the car has a surprisingly decent turning circle. The real clincher is being able to get eight seats at this price.

Against The car doesn't ride very well when it's got only a couple of people on board. With just two front airbags as standard, the safety package is very disappointing.

It's take it or leave it with the i800, but with so many seats for relatively little money, the one model is quite an attractive package - especially with a five-year warranty.

Buyer's notes

Target Price team says:

This is 'what you see is what you get' territory. There's just one version of the Hyundai i800 and the only options are sat-nav, leather seat facings and metallic or mica paint. Mind you, it comes as standard with an awful lot of stuff, not least of which is eight seats for a bargain price.

As you might expect, there's just the one engine to choose from, but it's a unit that suits the big MPV perfectly, strong enough to haul it around, even when all eight seats are occupied.

Don't be fooled by the van-with-windows looks, either; the i800 is better, and more refined, than that. On the other hand, this is very much a car to do a job, and it does it very well – all with the added benefit and extra peace of mind of a five-year warranty.
