    My car

I bought a Yukon Extended cab in September and now have 6000 miles. I bought it for a number of reasons, the advertised payload of over one ton, the towing at 3.5 tons and the fuel at 40 mpg. Unfortunately I have found that this vehicle cannot carry anywhere near a ton, significantly lees than advertised. It cannot tow 3.5 tons and it does not do 40mpg. That being said I do get 33 mpg, with off road tyres which is reasonable.

Dispute my disappointment I have found that the vehicle drives much better than any other pickup I have had, the seats are comfortable, the road noise is low and the handling is fine. As a private car the vehicle is good. My issues come as a works vehicle, it does not work. It will not carry load, it will not tow and both the interior and exterior paint and trim are week and mark easily. Compared to the Ford and Mitsubishi I had before this I can say this vehicle drives better on and off road, (pretty good off road)but is far more fragile. If you are looking for a works vehicle look elsewhere, if you are looking for a private vehicle it's not a bad choice.

Bluetooth sound unusable due to a design error. IsuzuUK admit to it but refuse to fund a resolution. Avoid.

Also: Poor ground clearance. Cheap seat leather. Unsupportive seat. Recurrent radio fault. Recurrent fuel filter failure. Expensive parts. Best avoided. Toyota is better and also has a five year warranty.

    My car

I bought mine in April, done 9000 miles so far, no faults.

Pluses: Well thought out design. Solid-feeling, tourquey engine. Averaging 36mpg. Easy cruising in 6th gear - 85mph at just 2000 rpm. The interior is simply laid out and comfortable Roomy enoough for me and the wife, two kids and dog.

Minuses Bongs and chimes are annoying, but easily silenced (10 mins with screwdriver) Can't turn off daytime lights (remove bulbs - 15 mins) I'd prefer all lights to turn off with the ignition. Handling a bit soggy. Could do with stiffer shocks?

Have done a few 200+ mile trips and it sails along comfortably at 80-85mph on motorway. I don't think the engine likes ticking over for long periods due to the DPF. Needs a thrashing now and then to keep it clear.

Bought it as a pick-up but put a canopy on after a couple of months. It made the ride smoother and provides loads of carrying space.

Basic maintenance is straight-forward. Inside and out, the plastics pop off easily if you need to access behind them.

So loving the D-Max so far, think I'll have it for a while.

    My car

All round brilliant cab. The cockpit is a great place to be, with all the creature comforts of a modern day suv (climate control, cruise control, bluetooth). The drivetrain feels bullet proof (same gearbox that is used in landcruiser 200 series), and the engine is superb with a potent power band. Very capable offroad, you can feel this car is built tough. Easily the best pick up on the market.
