For It shares the same 5.0 V8 and seven-speed automatic box as the 'basic' model, so has scorching performance. However, it adds even higher-quality fixtures and fittings, as well as smarter looks.
Against It doesn't live up its 2+2 claims - the rear seats are best seen as extra luggage space - and it has high running costs to match its £60,000 price tag.
This is a fine package in its own right, but given how good the standard - and several thousand pounds cheaper - XK is, we don't think this is worth the extra.
There's not a huge amount of choice in the XK range. Essentially, it boils down to just how fast you want to go – XK or XKR? – and whether you want a soft- or a hard top, a coupe or a convertible. Whichever you plump for, you'll get a stunning-looking car that mixes GT refinement with sports car sharpness.
However, you can expect high running costs on any model - and not much room in the back seats. If you want your XK to stand out even more, in addition to the usual range of Jaguar accessories, you can also choose from the Portfolio range, which includes items to improve your car's stereo as well as the way your car looks and drives.
