Most Jeep Grand Cherokees come with a 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel engine mated to a five-speed automatic gearbox. That’s definitely the one we’d recommend – the only alternative is the SRT8, which comes with a 6.4-litre V8 petrol, and the costs involved will be laugh-out-loud outrageous.
We’d recommend the basic Limited trim, because it’s the cheapest version yet still comes with a generous amount of luxury kit. Overland models come with even more niceties, but scour the kit list, and you’ll struggle to see where the extra cash goes if you opt for the Overland Summit model.
