For The diesel engine is strong and smooth, and makes for a fine motorway cruiser. Over 2 trim, this range-topping 3 trim has larger alloy wheels, an electric tailgate, cruise control and leather upholstery. It also has anti-whiplash front head restraints
Against We already think some people will baulk at the £2000 extra that a 2-trimmed car costs over the basic model, so it's very hard to argue a case for this model, which is a further £2000 more expensive
Yes, this model has some lavish equipment, but we think the lesser-trimmed models are the better buys
Kia keeps things simple with the Sedona. There's just one engine to choose – a 192bhp diesel - and three trim choices, called 1, 2 and 3.
You can opt for a six-speed automatic gearbox, but it can't quite make up its mind which gear it should be in at low speeds, and this dents fuel economy and emissions. The auto is also four tax bands higher than the manual.
It's a shame that 1 and 2 trims miss out on stability control as standard – but you can specify it as an option. 1 does get air-con and all-round electric windows, and seems to us to offer better value than 2 trim, which gets alloy wheels, rear parking sensors that are incorporated into the rear-view mirror and climate control as standard.
Kia is famed for its seven-year warranty, and the Sedona carries huge peace mind because of it, especially as there is no mileage limit in the first three years (except on cars used as taxis, where it's 100,000 miles).
