For The Sorento is easily up to the job of towing or taking a trip off-road. This trim brings dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, cruise control and leather upholstery
Against The trouble with XS trim is that it adds hugely to the price. This version is some £3000 more than an XE, which already brings most of what you need.
Price is the problem with this model. The XE already provides enough of what’s necessary for daily life, so we can’t recommend a car that costs thousands more
The larger of Kia’s two 4x4s, the Sorento is a fine off-roader, but it’s not as impressive on-road, where most rivals have it beaten.
Kia has now stopped offering it with a 3.3-litre V6 petrol engine, but it’s no great loss because the cheaper, more fuel-efficient 2.5-litre diesel that remains on sale was always the pick of the range.
There are four trims, but the Sorneto isn’t especially cheap, so we’d stick with the entry-level XE model. Even this comes with a long list of standard kit, including alloy wheels, an eight-speaker stereo, front and rear electric windows and air-conditioning.
Like all current new Kias, the Sorento has a seven-year warranty, with no mileage limit in the first three years, unless the car is used as a taxi.
