    My car

We bought this 4x4 to pull a horse box and a box trailer after looking at all other makes. We liked the style and the equipment that came as standard on the XS model. Since having it for the last 2 years its been nothing but problems, first the rear window leaked whe parked in the rain then the dash had to be changed due to faulty lights and the cruise control not lighting up when switched on. The fuel injector broke so it went back to the dealer and cost another £400 to have that fixed, now the Airbag warning light has come on and needs a replacment sensor. The interior scratches easy and the boot handle has now broken. we are getting 29-33mpg on a good day but when the temp drops the mpg goes to around 28-29mpg only. I would not recomend this car to any one if you have the money go for a proven soft of roader or a Landrover not this one.

    My car

I have had this from new in 2005 and am very pleased with it. I fitted LPG at 11,000miles and am now at 65,000 with no adverse effects and a nice saving on the wallet... Ride and handling are fairly good for a 4x4 and it can be driven without being scary. On the practicality side it is excellent and gets used for any kind of carrying. The interior has stood up pretty well apart from scratches on the rear cover cross beam from one of my carrying trips. It has been extremely reliable and the only faults have been airbag warning (x2) requiring sensor replacement and a clutch pedal that now bounces to knock off the cruise control whilst driving - a fault that teh Kia Garage failed to fix, so I will DIY it when I have time. Improvements: thinking of a Koni suspension fit now out of warranty and perhaps some power (torque) upgrades - if I can find them, otherwise wouldn't change a thing. MPG is 27+ on petrol and 23 on LPG - (set for performance not economy)

    My car

I have now owned my Sportage for just over a year, with just over 10,000 miles on the clock. I changed from a Rava4 to the Sportage as the Sportage was better value for money. The heated seats are a dream and the overall apperance very good. I now have a problem with the ignition which just stops working, I have had a new switch fitted but the problem is still happening. The car has been into the dealership on three occasions and will be back there tomorrow as it has happened again. The car will not start but all the lights on the dash and all the electrics work. I am not at all confident that the problem will be fixed and will be looking for a new car very soon. I would be interested to find out if any other owners have had this problem as Kia asure me that it is not a problem and have not been very helpful regarding this.

    My car

I have now owned my sportage for 6 months and I am very pleased with the vehicle. My original choice was between a Freelander, a RAV4 and the Kia. The Freelander was soon discounted due to poor road handling and body roll. The RAV is a nice vehicle but didn't match the KIA for finish quality and for practicality ( fully reclining seats, boot space etc ).I did notice a difference in road performance between the Sportage XE,XS models and the Titan which I think professional testers fail to spot. The Titan has superior cornering and damped body roll which may be a function of the different tyres/wheel sizes. Now that the engine has run in I achieve well over 40mpg on a run ( from full tank to full tank )which is reasonable. A very comfortable and well made vehicle. The only negative is the reverse parking sensors which don't work with a tow bar fitted!
