For The Range Rover has fabulous on-road ride and refinement for such a big car, together with immense capability in the mud. It is also truly luxurious and has a beautifully built cabin.
Against It's big, as you find out when you try to park it, and access to the rear is only mediocre. Expect huge running costs.
No off-roader has a more prestigious image than Land Rover's Range Rover. Limousine comforts in a car that can go anywhere.
Having deep pockets isn’t the same as being happy to throw money away, which is why we recommend the Range Rover TDV8 diesel over the supercharged V8 petrol. It might not be as quick, nor as quiet at tickover, but it’s far more economical and emits much less carbon dioxide. There’s so much pulling power hardly anyone would miss the extra kick of the petrol.
Even the entry-level Westminster model has enough gadgets and gizmos to stock a branch of Dixons. If you feel the need, you can spend even more on the range-topping Autobiography. This model allows for greater personalisation through a wider range of interior finishes and even more leather.
The cabin reeks of quality, but although Range Rover’s reputation for reliability has improved, don’t expect the trouble-free life of a Toyota Land Cruiser V8 owner.
