For Sprightly performance from the powerful hybrid powertrain, particularly considering the size and weight of the car. Supremely quiet, comfortable and smooth with very high specification and build quality.

Against It might be a hybrid, but it’s not green with CO2 emissions of more than 200g/km. Steering feel isn’t great and you can’t stretch out in the massaging seat if you’re around 5ft 11ins tall or more.

Buyer's notes

Target Price team says:

If you're looking for the most environmentally friendly luxury car and have come here because of the Lexus LS’s hybrid drivetrain, there's bad news. Not only is the LS600h extremely expensive to buy, a diesel Mercedes S-class is more economical.

The LS does incur lower company car tax liability, but that is offset by its considerably higher list price. Where the LS most impresses is in its comfort and, in particular, its refinement.

Some of the LS's rivals are sharper to drive, but it's far from disgraced, and we'd recommend taking Lexus up on the 48-hour test drives it is offering to allow its potential buyers to more fully appreciate its cars. All you have to do is to register on the company's website.
